5 things you should know about Mahindra XEV 9 electric SUV

Mahindra XEV 9e is powered by single electric motor capable of producing 380 Nm of torque with a power output of 231 bhp. The best part is that the Mahindra XEV 9e is a rear wheel drive electric SUV. Therefore it is going to be a fun to drive car. The Mahindra XEV 9e can to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds. The XEV 9e is based on INGLO platform, similar to its younger sibling BE 6e. Both, XEV 9e and BE 6e uses BYD's blade cell technology batteries. The one in XEV 9e is 59 kWh battery pack. Mahindra is also working with VW group to procure the EV technology.

#1 Performance: 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 secs!

#2 Range: 500+ km

Mahindra has claimed that you need to charge your XEV 9e only once in week. So that you will not have the EV range anxiety issues. With INGLO platform the Mahindra XEV 9e is capable of doing 500 km + easily. Which is almost better than driving a diesel powered SUV that can drive 400km to 500 kms on a full fuel tank. Therefore the XEV 9e makes a perfect long travel distance with ease. On the other side the EV charging infrastructure is getting developed at rapid pace.

#3 Safety features: ADAS level 2

The Mahindra XEV 9e is equipped with a wide variety of advanced feature such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) with level 2 configuration making it safe enough that applies automatic brakes when there is any obstacle in front of the vehicle. Addition to this the XEV 9e is equipped with 360 degree cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors to keep you alert about the vehicle surroundings. You also get 6 airbags as a standard. Both XEV 9e and BE 6e are equipped with automatic parking system that allows to park the vehicles without the driver sitting inside.

#4 Luxurious interiors

The Mahindra XEV 9e is more luxurious and larger electric SUV compared to BE 6e. The interiors are more subtle and focused on providing a sense of relaxation to the driver and the occupants. The interiors of XEV 9e are like any other high end luxury car with a perfect balance of bright and dark colour shades to ensure maximum roominess. The dashboard of the XEV 9e comes with tripple 12.3 inch screens and 16 speaker system by Harman Kardon with Dolby Atmos. Also there 2 addiional screens for the passengers which are optional. The XEV 9e gets a bigger boot to include all the necessary belongings required for your long stays.

#5 Design: From concept to reality

The design of the Mahindra XEV 9e is very modern, edgy but also a bit curvious compared to BE 6e. The XEV 9e stands out on the roard because of its design will appeal to the sedan lovers as well. Reason being, the shape of the XEV 9e is as of a cross over of Sedan and SUV. The XEV 9e is elder sibling of BE 6e, with more space inside with a bigger shell outside. Mahindra designers have used their sketchboard and talent at full capacity and also excelled the manufacturing capabilities.

In summary, Mahindra XEV 9e is the most advaced fun to drive electric SUV launched at starting price of 21.30 lakhs (ex showroom). More details will be available in early 2025. In my opinion Mahindra has made the XEV 9e and BE 6e world class products that could appeal to international market as well. I would be more keen to buy one if available on sale in Germany. There are news that the BE 6e and the XEV 9e are getting tested in South korea to launch in international market. Well done Mahindra! Cant wait to get a hands on driving experience.
