#1 BMW i Ventures
BMW i Ventures is a capital arm of BMW that invests in innovative startups that are focused on electric mobility. Mainly into technology for batteries, displays, softwares, platforms, supply chain, digitalization and manufacturing technologies. These investments are made in the start ups to keep the BMW ahead in its competition. BMW i Ventures was founded in 2011 and has its presence in California and Munich.
#2 Expansion of Electric vehicle lineup
BMW has an ambition to increase the share of their electric vehicles upto 50% of their total volumes in the year 2025. Which is possible at the same time challenging from the current automotive perspective. This will also include increasing the range of the current electric vehicles BMW iX, i4 and upcoming BMW i5. Additionally we will be experiencing the BMW Neue Klasse which means New Class and BMW Class X. The BMW Class X is an electric SUV and the New Class is a sedan.
#3 New manufacturing facilities
BMW is investing in setting up 5 new manufacturing facilities across the globe the biggest one will be Hungary. These facilities are part of BMW's aim of becoming leader in electric vehicle manufacturing. These new facilities will definitely become a strength to BMW in reducing costs in long run and avoid retro fitting the existing ICE car manufacturing plants. As the BMW's new vehicle platforms are focused on electronic drive trains. BMW has made their bold move towards the future of mobility more agressively compared to other German car manufacturers.
Summary
BMW's proactive approach towards electric mobility has made them to invest in Innovation and Technology. By investing in the electic mobility BMW is shaping its stable future. The automotive market is still unpredictable thats and its challenging the German automotive car manufacturers. I believe that BMW is moving in a right direction by introducing retro modern vehicles from the design perspective and will set trends that other car manufacturers will follow.
